Beige Bag announces release date of B2 Spice v5.0 and offers free upgrades

Beige Bag Software announced that it will release its much anticipated B2 Spice v5.0 on August 23, 2004. This SPICE software will continue Beige Bag's tradition of providing users with professional-level features at a far lower cost than that of major competitors.

ANN ARBOR, MI August 4, 2004 -- Beige Bag Software announced that it will release its much anticipated B2 Spice v5.0 on August 23, 2004. This SPICE software will continue Beige Bag's tradition of providing users with professional-level features at a far lower cost than that of major competitors.

Weve spent 2 years developing Version 5 and it has hundreds of enhancements, Jon Engelbert, President of Beige Bag said. Of these, the most significant include a redesigned user interface for quicker and easier designs, 11 new virtual instruments, and a Live Circuit mode that allows the interactive changing of circuit parameters while a simulation is running with immediate feedback both in the animated schematic and in the instruments.

In addition, the simulation capabilities of B2 Spice v5 have been raised to a new level with the capability to perform parameter stepping and Monte Carlo analysis on any simulation. For example, you can run a multi-layered AC Sweep of your circuit, stepping a resistor value with each sweep. Or pre-specify a set of opamps models and run the test with each of them.     New realistic models for capacitors, resistors and inductors give the simulator better real-world accuracy.

While the majority of the enhancements go toward expanding the simulation capabilities, convenience features were also included. The Circuit Wizard can automatically generate standard circuits like Attenuators, Power Supplies, Filters, Op-Amp and Tube-based Circuits. A new parts browser includes a user-configurable parts palette and a user-configurable curve tracer. Also, all files belonging to a project now appear as tabbed windows in one Workspace, much like Microsofts Excels worksheets, and projects can include multiple schematic sheets. The graphing has not gone unimproved either, with 3D graphs and highly flexible control over the graphs appearance.

B2 Spice v5 retains v4s seamless integration with CADSofts Eagle PCB.

The Professional version will be $399. In addition, any user who purchases v4.2 after August 1st will receive a free upgrade to v5.0 upon release.
